electrochemical study of iodide in the presence of 2-thiobarbituric acid-catalytic determination of 2-thiobarbituric acid
Authors
abstract
electrochemical oxidation of iodide has been studied in the presence of 2-thioborbituric acid using cyclic voltammetry and controlled-potential coulometry. the results indicate that, the resulting iodine takes part in halogenations reaction with 2-thiobarbituric acid. in addition, the present data are indicative of the suitability of iodide as a quasi mediator for determination of 2-thiobarbituric acid in aqueous solutions. the reaction mechanism has been investigated and shown that, the quasi-catalytic peak currents are linearily dependent on the 2-thiobarnituric acid concentration. the method allows the determination of 2-thiobarbituric acid in range 4.0´10-5-1.010-3 mol/l. the relative standard deviation for 10 determinations of 1.0´10-4 mol/l 2-thiobarnituric acid is 2.2% and the detection limit of the method is 3.9´10-5 mol/l

Three experiments were conducted to develop a sensitive and reliable fluorometric thiobarbituric acid (TBA) reactive substances (TBARS) method to determine lipid oxidation products in meat. The first study was conducted to find the optimum sample preparation conditions for meat in the fluorometric method. The second study was to compare the original and the modified methods by using meat and bl...

heteropoly acids (hpa) and their salts have advantages as catalysts which make them both economically and environmentally attractive, strong br?nsted acidity, exhibiting fast reversible multi-electron redox transformations under rather mild conditions, very high solubility in polar solvents, fairly high thermal stability in the solid states, and efficient oxidizing ability, so that they are imp...

this study investigates the cohesive devices used in the textbook of english for the students of psychology. the research questions and hypotheses in the present study are based on what frequency and distribution of grammatical and lexical cohesive devices are. then, to answer the questions all grammatical and lexical cohesive devices in reading comprehension passages from 6 units of 21units th...
Fluorometric Determination 1 , 3 - biphenyl - 2 - thiobarbituric of Lipid Acid Peroxides in Tissues with
Lipid peroxides in tissues were fluorometrically determined using 1,3-diphenyl-2-thiobarbituric acid (DPTBA) as a fluorogenic reagent, and the results were compared with those obtained by the DPTBA-visible method, thiobarbituric acid (TBA)-fluorescence method, or TBA-visible method. The optimum conditions for determining lipid peroxides were analyzed by using brain homogenate. The optimum pH fo...
full textThe thiobarbituric acid assay of sialic acids.
Members of the sialic acid family of compounds occur in a variety of tissues and body fluids (la, 2) and in bacteria (3), incorporated in conjugated protein. The naturally occurring sinlic acids are substituted neuraminic acid derivatives (Nacetyl, N-glycolyl, N, 0-diacetylneuraminic acid). These are collectively termed “sialic acids.” The unsubstituted 9 carbon chain is called neuraminic acid ...
